We are the youth of America. It is up to us to gain the skills needed to keep this nation going. It’s up to us to have the nest big idea, be the next voice, start the next revolution. We are the ones that people of all ages and all walks of life want to be because we are young, promising, and pushing the boundaries of reality. It is our sole responsibility to learn. It is our job to think. We can take these thoughts and turn them into something that matters. We can make art, we can make music, and we can say things that have never been said before.
We are tasting freedom for the first time by experiencing a world no longer filtered by what your parents want you to see, but we have not yet been grounded by the woes of the world. We live with our head in the clouds because everything looks better from up there and because simply, we can. We live recklessly and make monumental mistakes because that is exactly what we are supposed to be doing. We are meeting the people that we will never forget, doing the things that we will never remember, and becoming the people that we will forever be. We are living the stories we will tell to our grandkids. These are the best times of our lives.
We are experiencing the steady march of history, and even better we are one of those soldiers unwavering on the path to the future. We are the pen writing the books that all who come after us will read. We have the power to change the things we don’t like because this world is ours for the taking. We can take a stand for what we believe in and fight for our truth.
Soon, we will no longer ride the coattails of the politicians, artists, musicians, and public figures that lead us through life. It’s time for us to start to take ourselves seriously and work towards tomorrow. We have tools and we are gaining the knowledge, it’s time we use them.
